The unit itself seems to be reacting to temp inside the car but has no effect on the blowers.

Any ideas?

And if it isn't that, and you just get no blower, it'll be the heater blower motor itself inside the dash. Both common E39/E46 foibles. Resistor is easiest to change, so try it first.

Fuse 50 is above the fuse box in the glovebox, you can't see it you need to remove the glovebox and then lower the fuse box, there will be two large 50 amp fuses on the top left.

But if it comes on and off it will most likely be the hedgehog resistor pack.

Please tell me the name of that dealer, there is no way they cost £90 from a dealer.

Sytner

The indie would have sold me the parts for £45 but after Googling what a ball ache it is to fit decided to let them do it for another £45

This was in Jan 09
