Hi,

This morning I was dropping the car off to have a service, it got stuck up a slope and began to wheel spin, the traction control light was flickering as it was kicking in.

The garage phoned to say that the light has come on and won't go out, they have tried to turn it off, and plugged it in on diagnostics, but are getting an error of communication failure or something!!

I have tried disconnecting the battery to no avail!

Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong, with hopefully a simple way to fix it?

Thanks,

Ashley.

Is the brake light icon on too? I had it on mine and it came off after driving about 5 miles.

Get the error codes checked at a dealer or specialist? Does the TC still work?

Hacve you had anything done to the wheels recently ?
Was a damaged abs sensor when mine wouldn't go out.

If the garage already have it then why can't they fix it?

The garage that had it checked it on diagnostics, but said there was a connection failure!? They couldn't pick up any codes at all.

They wasn't able to resolve it, and said that it will need to go to BMW.

No I haven't touch the wheels at all.

If it was a wheel sensor, then the ABS light would also be on.
Diag/comms failure is rather common, and often doesn't present any symptoms.
I'd imagine this is to do with the actual intervention of the traction control failing, which may have lain dormant until it was calling into action today.

So what might be at fault then?

Anything I should be looking at/ paying any attention to?
