Which high performance oil?

Hello guys,

I need to change oil in my BMW 540i.
It's a 4l V8, around 150k. I use it mainly on driftdays and will probably change the oil few times before the winter, so below zero start performance is not an issue.

What would you reccomend for a very heavy use?
Any opinions on Millers Oils CFS 10w60?
Or maybe cheaper Castrol EDGE Sport 10W60?
What do you profi guys use?

If you're changing fairly regularly even with relatively low miles on the oil, then no need to look much beyond Motul 8100.
If you don't mind paying the extra each time, then their Chronos 300V is going to be hard to top.
Personally, I'd pay £25-30 for an oil analysis at the time you're thinking of changing it out, and see what the report says.
If all's well, you should get a suggestion on how much more life the oil has, if the previous x,000 miles are indicative of what the rest will be.
No point throwing away perfectly good oil based on an arbitrary number of miles the car has done.

A vote for that from me - I use it in my track car and last time I opened up the engine to have a look it was still as it was after the last rebuild

OK it's not a V8 in fact it's not even a BMW but it gets a very very hard life!!!

The last rebuild was after a slightly cheaper oil didn't stand up to the abuse I gave it

I'd recommend the Silkolene ProS 10w-50. It's a very good quality oil and seals with the high temperatures in drifting well. We supply it to a lot of drifters.

I have a voucher here which i won at BTAP for some oil from you, I sort of forgot about it, is it still valid?
