BMW Warranties
Discussion
First post after several years of lurking on the PH BMW and Porsche fora...
Currently have a 325Ci Sport, just over 6 years old, on which the original BMW warranty was not renewed. Love the car to bits and intend to hold it until it dies (hopefully not anytime soon!)
I've heard that it is possible to get a BMW Warranty despite there having been a period where the car did not have it. My car has FBMWSH (although additional maintenance work has been carried out by top specialists - no sign of this in the log book as most of it has been preventative maintenance).
Is this true, and if so how does one go about purchasing a BMW Warranty, and how much does it cost? I've checked BMW's website but apparently you need a login and password in order to register for this. Have not tried calling them yet.
The main reason I'm after one is because my car has crossed 75k miles and I suspect some items such as the Steptronic transmission are entering a period of uncertainty!
Any insights welcomed.
Thanks.

Chaps, you can in fact now take out a BMW warranty even if your car's three-year or extended warranty has lapsed. I believe it's been up and running since the beginning of the year.
Three levels of cover available - Comprehensive, Named component and DriveLine. Three different levels of claim excess also available - £0, £100 or £250.
The car must have FBMWSH, have less than 100k on the clock and be unmodified. Policy won't cover any existing faults, and there's a one month gap between the policy being taken out and the warranty becoming active.
Don't have any costs to hand I'm afraid.
BMW Warranty is in the process of getting a website up and running, but in the meantime you can call 0871 200 0199 to get a quote/cover.
Cheers
Bob

If the car is sub 100k on take out will they let it continue when the car goes past 100k? I ask because mines at 5yrs & 90+ and if I make a few changes this would be yery interesting.Three levels of cover available - Comprehensive, Named component and DriveLine. I would of thought so if you pay monthly as it just continuously rolls on. They're pretty good to talk to and help you to get the best deal. I enquired about a warrenty for a M3 I was looking at buying and the chap said that prices go up once it's passed 60k miles however if I take the warrenty out when it's below 60k and pay monthly then the price won't go up, I would just continue to pay the same monthly fee.
