Looking to get an X5 and the free media and dynamic pack offer expires today. Asked my local dealer what would replace this deal and they said they think it's going to be 5k off the list price, anyone with any knowledge able to confirm?

Could be no special deals and a price rise thrown in for good measure.
Some manufaturers are stsarting with the price increase due to the exchange rate.
BMW have also had a few months to ramp the production down so oversupply is not an issue.

Thanks, yes knew of that but BMW themselves will have their own offer, the discounts on Broadspeed include the dealer discount. Similar to Land Rover with LR offering 5k off Freelander HSEs before you start to haggle with dealer. Still nowt on their website....

Was talking to my local dealer today, they attended the BMW closed auction, he said dealers were bidding nutty prices for the stock with most going for 3-4k over book. He has no idea how the winning bidders were going to trade these cars on when in certain cases it is cheaper to buy new through Broadspeed, Autobytel etc!

I doubt BMW will do that offer, which would amount to £10K off when you include dealer discount. Imagine what that would do to the value of their second hand stock....

... mind you, if they do i'd be tempted back to an x5.

With the Q1 offer of free media and dynamic packs, plus dealer discount, you were looking at £10-12k discount on list, as well as paying only 15% VAT. Unfortunately I left it too late to get a car in suitable spec.

Offer now finished and, although big dealer discounts still available, I suspect the bmw offer won't be repeated. I understand the US factory has also been closed for a period of time so suspect they don't have the surplus stock to shift like they did in Q1?

Yes, though it wasnt £10K off the car, which was the smart way to help preserve residuals.

The deal is back on again (ie, free media pack and dynamic pack) until end of June 09. Hope this helps someone.

Yes that does help, cheers! Seems a bit nutty to spend early thirties on an 07/57 when you can buy brand new for 37ish with that deal.

Indeed. Have you seen the deal on the m3??? m3 with the usual toys as standard - leather, pro nav, HUD, met paint, etc plus the 19's and the new 7sp dual clutch 'box for £555+VAT per month. That includes the road tax so adding the vat and subtracting the road tax brings it to around £600 a month. Similar deal on 635d Sports - £549+VAT. I'm sorely tempted as i was quoted £461 on a PCP deal yesterday on an 08 320d Coupe....

(though the dealer is quoting me for a new car on monday, given the free upgrade to m sport and the finance contribution i'd be surprised if new didnt work out cheaper)

Drivethedeal have BMW's at far lower prices than that - also noting that the PCP is at >9.9% APR!! yet base rate is 0.5%... when base rate was 5% BMW PCP was 12.9% APR so you can see they are taking the piss.

Those figures are the finance contribution, not the discount.

I guess we cant expect it all ways - £6K towards the finance and the lowest finance rate?

Given BMW's recent results & the continued hammering of the prestige makes I would say they need to do a lot more.
So far this 09 reg year I have only seen 1 "09" reg 3 series and that was a 318i SE on the road.
Generally I have seen a number of Fiesta's, Ibiza's, Old Shape Vectras on the 09 which I found very odd and the deal they had must have been lol huge, No mercs, a number of Jags, no Audi's, a few VW Golf's.

The Broadspeed online quote looks lower than when I last checked too.. back of Top Gear which uses the same quotes for their 'Target Price' shows £35784, broadspeed now quotes £34009 online, and if you go on to spec the car, dynamic package and media package are NCOs so they account for the current offer too
Sounds too good to be true...

I dont imagine discounting cars to the point of giveaway prices is really in BMWs best interests.

Can you imagine what severe discounting would do to the thousands of cars that dealers have in stock OR to the values of customers cars?

I think they'll take whatever action they need to to get through this - i would have faith they know more about the car industry than you or i do.

Pgilc1, I don't think these offers will make that much of an impact on AUC prices, if anything prices have gone up. Two dealers have given us the story of closed auction prices being ridiculously high, and good used stock being hard to find due to lack of partexs on new cars. This is definitely the case with M cars and X5s, back in jan there were plenty, now I've seen a car that was on sale for just under 30k, up for 35k with more miles!

BTW, broadspeed have changed now to charge for the media and dynamic package... was too good to be true then haha.
