braking issues

Hi guys.Experiencing some noise issues when braking.However it only is when braking and not all the time.It just seems to be like a clunking sound like a guard is loose or something similar.Ive had a quick look but there is nothing obvious.I could be wrong but Ive ruled out bushes because where I live there is speed bumps galore annd there is no apparent noises when going over them.Like I say its just when braking.I know that my rear brake shoes need greasing because it creaks like mad when the hand brake is on.Could this be the problem?Any ideas?
