As per the title really, can't get the fuel cap open! Have tried unlokcing the car on the fob and with the key but the fuel cap remains firmly (locked?) shut.....

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Refer to the manual as there is a manual override for this. It could well be a sticky mechanism or motor failure.
Alternatively try pushing/wriggling the flap when unlocking via the key fob...could just be grime preventing a smooth operation....however do NOT force it!!!!

Good Luck

Thanks Diable, unfortunately I don't have a manual for this car! It's ancient! Perhaps a PH'er has one or a Haynes manual and could check for me....... Either way i'm going to pull all of the carpet out of the boot tonight and see if I can find the manual release.

Thanks

Can't remember seeing one on my E34 but my E36's have a little black plastic handle to pull inside the boot to open the flap from inside the car.

Thanks for the advice chaps, took the carpet out inside the boot yesterday and removed the little unit which controls the locking pin, put some wd40 on the pin from inside the boot and also as far as I could from outside, wiggled this round for a bit and then re mounted the little control unit and all is working as it should be! Thanks.
