Hi folks, the oil light comes on every time I start the 330 and then goes out after about 5-10 seconds. I've checked the oil and its within the mark, I take the oil level sensor has gone?

Also the coolant light has come on twice too even though the stick is protruding by about 20mm, I take it this sensor has gone too?

Red or yellow oil light?

How many miles on the car?

I had coolant level light issues as well - replacement of the sensor didn't help but replacement of the expansion tank (where the float is located which is read by the sensor) did.

It's the yellow oil light and yellow coolant light. It's looking like an expensive service as I have to get the rear carrier bushes and brake pads done also.

97k miles on the clock, FSH

The oil light is because the sensor has failed, I had this same problem on the 328 and changing the sensor fixed it. If you can live with it, and just check your oil regularly, then just wait until your next oil service and have it done at the same time. It's a simple job, but you do have to drain the oil.

Note that the red oil light refers to pressure and is a different system so if this comes on then you still must stop the engine immediately.

For the coolant light it's up to you .. it may be worth changing the water pump rather than risk the engine overheating and nasty things happening.
