e34 touring suspention
Discussion
Shouldn't be too hard to replace a leaky pipe and if a rear shock is worth more than your car then it must be a bit of a shed??
I had both rear air damper thingies fail on my previous E39 and they were really very easy to replace, the pipework didn't look complicated either when I was riumaging around in the boot.
Your best bet is to ask on one of the dedicated BMW forums. bmwland or bimmerforums.co.uk are busy ones.

i can agree wholeheartedly.
one of my pipes sprung a leak. car seemed to drive ok but as the fluid for the SLS and the power steering were the same I started losing PAS fluid aswell.
So we cut off and blanked off the pipes, drained the system, fitted normal springs and shocks and hey presto.
i was quoted 1k for a full new rear suspension system. our manual job cost around 250 and it drives just as it should.
