As per the title. I've bought a replacement water pump for my 528. The pump has an "O" ring seal but no gasket. This is correct as all the parts diagrams show just the O ring and no gasket for six cylinder engines.

Should i use a sealant like hylomar? It's been some years since I changed a water pump.

Thanks for any advice from someone who has changed one.

I never used anything, but i suppose you could add a dab of something if you like. They rarely leak unless the bearings are shot, so it isn't strictly necessary.

Never use any silicone or sealers with o rings i usually use a lubricant (grease)if its a tight fit also there should be 2 threaded bolts in the water pump once you undo all the retaining bolts wind a bolt in each threaded holes and it pulls the pump off without any struggling
