A freind has on retention the following plate, R8 BMW.

Anyone fancy a guess as to it's possible value, It's just been taken off his BM and now not needed.

Thanks in advance.

I'd guess between £500- £1,500.

Interesting one, as Im currently thinking of making an offer for a set of BMW number plates(not for me but to sell on)

A3 BMW
A5 BMW
A7 BMW

and M3 ***, three random letters, I dont remember what.

Its not my normal line of work so its pretty hard for me to value correctly. so I'd appreciate any opinions on the numbers I have just listed.

Not yet Chris. I have a chap who does jobs on a saturday morning at a place in Holbeck, very cash in the back pocket type of affair. He's going to repaint the whole thing for £100 wink Trouble is I[m not sure how long it will last, the rust is set in quite badly, they all do it though.

Going to get it sorted next week I think.

Car is sound so far, that oil leak is definately cured, thank christ. Had some rear parking sensors fitted last week (for the wife) and put a parrot kit in it too. Got some angel eyes and HID xenon kit coming this week to freshen up the front a bit, the standard lights are $hite on the pre facelift E39's.

Loving your Porsche BTW, sounds fruity. A couple of years and I may well be after one just like yours.

Let me know when the docs sorted won't you.

Cheers mate.

Dave you should have said i've got a Parrot kit sat next to my desk, i only used it for a couple of months then changed to a Becker Grand Prix with built in B/T.

I've also got a Solisto kit that enables you to replace the cd multi changer to a ipod/mp3 player if your interested.

Still waiting for the docs! i'll nip them round as soon as they land.

Cheers

The M3 ??? plates are only £250 from the DVLA... so not much point in paying more than that unless the ??? is significant to you.

Serious question to the OP - it may be something I would consider putting on my 8 series - not sure what others opinions are on that? I do plan to keep the car forever so its not a case of 'what would you do with it when you sell the car?'

Although I was looking for something dateless to be honest - would love BMW 8 or 8 BMW

Agreed... but I am pretty sure that the number of M3 XYZ plates are v limited... all been bought up by now. So, letter number then letter letter letter plates are well cheap. Not M3 ones though.

It was meant in jest though, when I bought the car the history file had a valuation of £480 there, plate means nothing to me personally so would let it go for the cash, and then get the bits like new hood elastic done instead!

It does look good on a beemer and will suit your 8er perfectly.
I'd have thought what you "want" i.e. 8 BMW would be 5x the cost of Chris' plate.

I got to test it out for a week or so and can 100% guarantee that it works smile

to clarify, I bought my 540 via the op and the plate was left on the car while the transfer was effected

You tell me that now!???

Kidding. I've bought one of the Parrot music kits. It streams music off my phone so negates the need for any other gubbins. Also, if I spend any more money on said gubbins I will be in the $hit.

Are those A plates all off the same guy? I'm pretty sure when I was living in Northampton, a guy on one of the neighbouring streets had the 3 and 5 on his and his missus' cars and was rumoured to have the 7 plate too.

No, must be something similar I guess.
These plates have been on retention for quite some years.

It was quite some years ago that I lived in Northampton. In fact, the A3 BMW, from memory, was on an grey E30 which I think was the current shape BM at the time! It would have been the early 90's I think.
