HELP! I can't pair my Nokia 6230i with my E61 525d SE
Discussion
I recently bought a BMW 525d SE touring on a 54 plate. I was fiddling with the I-Drive to try and get my phone working via bluetooth instinctively, as there was no mention of it in the manual (I later discovered a separate booklet all about it... bummer).
Anyway, I managed to get my mobile paired with the in-car bluetooth and it seemed to work fine. Only problem was it only transferred my contact phone numbers from my SIM card, and I had a lot of others that were only saved in my phone memory. No problem, I thought, I'll just unpair both devices, transfer any phone numbers in the phone's memory onto the SIM card, and then pair up the devices again.
Won't work. At all. Never mind the phone numbers, I can't even get the units to work together anymore. I even tried another bluetooth phone and that won't work either. Although the mobile says it has found "BMW 97165", whenever I try to pair up the units the I-Drive asks for a "passkey". So I type "0". I actually want to type "0000" but as soon as I press the 1st "0" the I-Drive then asks me to "confirm passkey". So I am now able to type "0000" but the mobile phone which is now in thinking mode will not do anything, as won't the I-Drive until I scroll to the what looks like a return symbol at the top left of the I-Drive screen. But as soon as I press this, the phone immediately says "Bluetooth connection failed".
It's driving me insane. can anybody help? With hindsight, I wish now that I kept the few phone numbers the I-Drive captured from my mobile's SIM card. At least the bluetooth system worked then. I don't know what I have done wrong that means the bluetooth will not work anymore.
Incidentally, in the BMW booklet "Operating instructions for universal mobile phone provision" (the A5 booklet with a red telephone box on the front cover), it says: Select "Communication interface", then "Bluetooth", then "Phone connection". Well I don't have a "Phone connection" on my I-Drive screen, only a "Phone". Is this the same thing, or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
