My e60 has got Bi-Xenons with adaptive headlights - can't find anything in my manual about what I need to do before I drive on the continent. Anyone know?

Cheers!

On each assembly under a cover about the size of a 50p piece there's a lever to move - it's bound to be in the manual.

If it's anything like the Z4 lights, then the 'switch' simply blanks off a part of the beam rather than changing the throw, so you end up with less light overall, which isn't good for evening/night-time country road driving abroad.

It's really not! I'll have a dig around in there though...

Under the bonnet on top of the headlight assembly, there's a small black circular cap, with two small tags opposed at 180 degrees, there pull off and through the hole, you can see a metallic lever. Move the lever to it's fullest (slides quite easy) and replace the cap. Repeat for the other side. Takes 2 minutes.

You can just see the cap I'm referring to, to the right of where cap #4 locates into (follow the line), below bulb #8 on this diagram from RealOEM.

You can tell it's worked as the Low beam effectively becomes flat, not shining up to the left to illuminate the kerb at all.

HTH.
