E46 M3 CAB Rear rollbar module
Discussion
Hi
If they have deployed then you need to remove the cover section at the top of the area around the bars and there is somekind of arrangement with a scredriver that the retaining ratchets can be popped back and the bars pushed back down. They are mounted on large springs, and so they can be retracted fine with some force, they are tested in a service too by way of firing a code through the ODB to them.
Hopefully you will now see no lights on the dash, and they will spring back out if they need to.
You say the car has had some slight damage? What happened, as you may have an issue with the sensor if they went off through something where the car is level, they are only designed to deploy when they think the car will flip. Yo may then need to a new sensor, these are on the drivers side behind the rear seat, under a square panel on where the backrest would be. New ones are £300 and need to be recoded to the rest of the car.
