Guys

I just took the washer bottle out of the car to give it a clean (windscreen washer wasn't working too well - filters were clogged up). The headlamp washers were definitely working fine before I took everything out. Now I have hooked the washer bottle back up, the windscreen washer is working fine but the headlamp washer jets just won't work (don't even pop out). Is the likely cause of this the headlamp washer pump is now not working (perhaps water got into the connections when I was messing around?)? I've had a good look around and everything is connected up as it should be, no leaks etc.

Yeah I'm sure the pump is running. I've tried it quite a few times now and they just won't work. It sounds like the pump runs and wants to pump water out, but the washer jets just won't actually pop out.

my 528 jets wernt working when I got the car.
when you operate the pump does water run out the front wheel area? if so there's a join in the pipe work incase you wish to remove the bumper.
Im assuming the e46 will have similar setup.

Here's a daft question, have you had the lights on when you've been testing them ?

Ha ha. Yeah, I had the lights on. I had another play around with it and disconnected the pipe that runs from the pump to the jets and then pulled the stalk to run the washer. Loads of pressure through the pump. Reconnected and now all works OK. Must have been air in the system as suggested above. Only problem now is I lost the clip which clips the hose to the pump as it fell into the engine bay! frown
