There's a small screw in one of my wifes run flats - it's not on the edge, but very close to it.....

Can the tyre be repaired or will it require replacing?

Thanks

I had a nail in one of mine in almost exactly the same position. I took it down to Kwik Fit whereupon the fitter got out his template and from what I could see, the centre 75% or so of the tyre can be repaired and the outer 25% cannot.

New tyre, I reckon.

I recently had a tyre repaired, and was told that the damage needed to be in the central 75% of the width for a pair to be possible. In addition, my car does not have run-flats. Some tyre manufacturers state that their run flat tyres must not be repaired under any circumstances (and hence tyre companies will not carry out a repair) I believe that Michelin have recently stated that under certain circumstances some of their run-flat tyres can have a single repair carried out, but there are very stringent checks on the integrity of the side-wall.

Looking at your photo, I'd say a replacement is necessary due to the position.

Hello - yes this can be repaired!

Have a search for "vulcanised tyre repair" This uses a newer, different method to tyre repair. I had a screw in the same spot. It costs slightly more and they needed the tyre for the day, but worked a treat.

Good luck!
