BMW E36 Air Con - New Condenser?

Hi, I have done a few searches, and I don't have the problem I am seemingh to see a fair bit with the uni not working, i.e. thwe fans / panel etc. I think that the a/c condenser unit has a hole / leak and will need to be replaced and the system regassed.

I am tempted to take it to Phil Crouch and see what he can do as I need a few other things doing to it at the same time. I was just wondering however if anyone knew if it was an ok job to do yourself? I usually do 95% of the work on cars myself and so was wondering if there was an exchange place for a/c units and then just getting it regassed at a normal A/C place woudl be better etc?

Any comments from people that have had to replace and approx costs would be mega!

PS. I am in the Reading / Newbury area.
