E46 glass tailgate problem

Evening All,

I've just purchased an 2001 E46 325i sport touring. I have a problem with the rear window. Whilst it opens perfectly well using the button on the key, the button on the window won't open it. Has anyone any ideas please?

Or take the button apart and clean any electrical contacts that may be found, the locks obviously working so it may be dirt in the button.
