E36 323i

£975

What do you think?

Only issue seems to be the spoiler is loose, just had a good look but I don't seem to own a tool that will tighten it =[ suggestions from those in the know?

What fixings is it attached with that you don't have a tool for? Any of these?

148k

up to 130k has full bmw service history.

so it's just that last 20k that has a ? mark. HPI cleared fine and seems to drive well rear shocks etc feel quite stiff though so that will need replacing

oh and the badge on the front looks a bit grim so need to buy a new one from somewhere.

wheels are first on my list of mods then sort out the suspension.

It's a stud on the end of the spoiler held on by a nut.

2 nuts have come off the other 2 are rusted in place, I don't have a socket, long and thin enough to reach and tighten the nut =[ tempted to cut it off at the studs and refabricate new studs onto it.

My dad had an identical 323i back when they were brand new as a company car, but not the se model. That was when BMW's really were aspirational, and for around 25k his had wheel trims and a cassette player! Crazy times.

Nice cars though, and a bargin for that price. Wouldn't mind one myself.

ETA forgot to mention his used to eat rear suspension bushes!!

good engine, good colour, good price. that engine whilst not the quickest ever goes on forever due to it being a detuned 2.5. Looked at a 523i that ran as sweet as anything with 265k.

If you look after it it will cost you peanuts to run.

Leather, auto?

nope manual and cloth interior mint condition inside though very very clean =] few things I want to do to the engine and handling but I want to sort out the MOT warnings that I got mostly the corroded break lines. will see how things go really atm it looks very good did a few miles in it today and nothing has popped up that was out of the ordinary.

yours might be worse than mine, but mine would have got an advisory on the brake lines if it was not for the mot tester wire brushing them and fully greasing them up.

glad you got a 6cyl the 4cyl are puny and use the same amount of fuel.

what you doin to the engine?

well come have a look at it next time you visit your parent's, if both my cars are there I'm most likely in.

Engine; well from some research I've been doing I hear upgrading to the 328i or 325i intake manifold and throttle body really gives the car more go so that will be something to look into as well as a better induction set up not sure what brand I want yet. But I'd rather make it track worthy in terms of handling and brakes before I start spending money on the engine.

But ye, come have a look when you can and see what you think. I'm having issues getting my disc changer to work lol so good use your help problem solving that one wink

yep will do ill pop by sometime. have you bought it as a replacement for the astra or you planning to use it just for track.

I think its wise to concentrate on brakes / suspension first.

do you have the BMW 6-CD multichanger? If so you could try my magazine to determine what is faulty. Whenever mine has packed up it has been the magazine.

Welcome to the world of 6cyl BMWs....you wont go back!

Yep Astra is now up for sale wanted to free up some cash and tbh it's not the most exciting of cars. I could not afford to have a pure track car hehe as nice as it would be though no this will be my car for the foreseeable future.

yes it's the 6 CD one. Yep that's what I was thinking just try sticking my player in yours to see which part is faulty I hate problem solving electronic issues, it usually means you need excess components to switch over to see what's broken pain in the arse but oh well.

Cheers dude see you when I see you hehe

Tried and tested engine capable of hundreds of thousands of miles if looked after. For under £1k it should be cheap reliable wheels.

Hardly worth scrimping and buying a cheap, low spec 323i, and then spending pots of cash "doing it up". Best bet is to run it as a good value daily hack, until it dies. Good find, and buy!

Lovely looking car! Got to laugh your tits off at these muppets who pay circa £10k for a brand new small hatchback when something like that can be had for less than a grand!

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Not sure why you quoted "doing it up" not a phrase I use myself but hey ho not exactly breaking the bank and spending loads on it...and I wasn't scrimping and buying cheap, had a bigger budget but this one ticked all the boxes mostly the "affordable insurance" box so it's a winner why not spend the excess budget getting it a little bit quicker? I don't want to try and make it into an M3 or something, just something that's fun to drive and that I can do a few track days in.

Cheers
