E36 328i brake setup - opinions
Discussion
All,
I am thinking of replacing my standard brake pads with aftermarket/uprated ones. What's the recommendation? I don't do track days currently, but possibly in the near future. I need a set of fast road pads, any help would be great.
I am actually thinking of using the standard disks with it also. Although these will be new when I fit the recommended pads...is this a good idea?
Thanks in advance chaps...

Pads do all the work, discs aren't anywhere near as important.
As long as you get decent quality ones, you'll be OK, drilling doesn't make much of a difference, and grooves tend to just make noise. All this stuff about them helping to remove gasses generated is a drop in the ocean comoared to decent fade free pads and good fluid.
I think EBC yellows would probably fit what you are after, most track orientated pads tend to squeal and make large amounts of dust so you'd spend ages cleaning them for the benefit of a few trackdays.
If you have a GSF carparts near you, some ATE superblue fluid should help as it's amazing value.
Maybe look into the ATE powerdiscs from GSF, they have the odd groove in them and aren't too expensive but it's mostly the looks you'll be getting.

hey!
Sounds like its all just been covered but i just want to add i was having the same thoughts as you and was going to go for a 330ci upgrade but was having trouble finding the callipers so i went for the 328ci 300mm discs adn all i can say is it was a brilliant and cheap upgrade,iv fitted some zimmerman drilled disks and also used brand new 5.1 fluid, all round i dont have a single bad word to say about this upgrade,oh and also that little bit bigger in size makes a nice difference to the look
