I've been driving now for 20 odd years.. I had the usual meagre Mini's and whatnot for my first cars, nothing special. Mother on the other hand, had a very nice E30 325i Sport at the time. I loved this car, and on the odd occasion...... I was allowed to drive it. It seemed completely heavenly to me at the time! cloud9 Quick, refined, handled brilliantly and made all the right noises. Plus it looked pretty damn good too. It was a great car to be seen in when you are only 18 years or so old!
I've been a fan of E30's ever since, and every once in a while I have a casual browse through the Pistonheads classifieds to view the old E30's.. Most of them are getting quite ropey these days, or are grossly chavved up. But purely by chance, I stumbled across this..

A tidy looking E30 325i Sport. But not just any E30 325i Sport. This is THE car. Mothers old BMW.. The very car I got to drive and had my first taste of 'quality' motoring with. It brought back many memories to see the car again after all these years smile And it looks in pretty good shape too. Not bad for 21 years old, huh?
And all for only £3k.. Hmm.. scratchchin
But in all seriousness, I don't think im particularly interested in buying the car. Its just nice to see it again, and be reminded of some good times from back in the day wink

That is actually very nice. I am seeing more and more E30s like that these days...

From my limited knowledge of the 325 sport (only had mine for a month) there are two slightly odd things about the ad. The wheel is an Mtech 1 not Mtech 2 like the test of the car, and the ad mentions an OBC which this car doesn't have (goes where the clock is). Apart from that, nice car.

Any excuse for a photo, here's mine smile

I sure did think about it smile Its not so far away to go check it out.. But as much as I like E30's, if I was going to go for one now i'd prefer a more understated one. IE a regular 325i 2 door, or perhaps a touring.

As for the wheels and OBC. The OBC must be a typo. I do remember that the car didn't have one originally, and there isn't one in the picts either. As for the wheels, I didn't notice.. And im not certain what the differences are anyway.
It looks pretty original for a 21 year old E30 though

Sorry, meant to say steering wheel, not just wheel. The original probably got worn out and has been replaced.

The tech one wheels often turn up on the later cars - maybe there was a cross over point that coincided with excess stock? Either way, I'd not worry. It's easy enough to tell a tech 1 from a tech 2 and they're both good cars in their own right. It's also straightforward to tell a sport from a non-sport, although there are some good facsimiles (some where dealer fit looky-likies).

Also, I find a lot of advertisers "mistake" the check control panel (by the sunroof on E30s, in the dash for E28s if I recall) for OBCs. The latter will be a 6 or 13 button affair with consumption, temp range, speed warning etc.; the former is merely an electrical circuit check that lets you know if your lights etc. have blown a fuse or something (there are more serious warnings but I haven't sat in my E30 for nearly a year so I forget!).

Lovely cars but the red death kills them fast. Here's mine (when it was healthy):
