E90 run flat tyre life
Discussion
I have a 57-reg 320d, which has done 15k miles over a wide mix of roads. I checked the tread depths on the tyres (standard Bridgestone runflats on 16" wheels) recently and the rears are down to 3.5mm, so they'll need replacing soon.
This seems like quite a short tyre life for a bog-standard diesel saloon, especially as I have a fairly relaxed driving style and check the tyre pressures regularly.
I know that runflats wear out quicker than normal tyres, but is this normal?? Or does it suggest a problem with wheel alignment or something like that??

I have 55 plate 320D. Now done 70K. 4th set of tyres fitted at 67K, about 22K per set.
Originals were Contis, so were second set. 3rd set Michelin and now on non RFT Avons.
All of the replacement sets were swapped front to back at about 10K. the fronts tended to wear the outside shoulders and the rears the inner so this gave me maybe a couple of K more on those sets.
The Contis wore pretty evenly otherwise but the Michelins had all sorts of uneven feathering and also caused all sorts of different noises on various surfaces. Really didn't like the Michelins.
All tyres changed at about 2.5mm.
The ride is much better on the non RFTs, of course, and nothing different in handling/grip. I now carry a compressor, sealant and external repair kit, just in case.
I'm in the tyre business, so bought and fitted all of these myself.
