On previous BMWs I have not had sat nav, hence no screen, and if I wanted traffic reports I simply turned on the radio TP function and the traffic report would cut in, when appropriate. The traffic report would come automatically from the local station of the area you were travelling through.

With the on-screen menu I now have it seems you have to manually select the station from which you want to receive traffic reports. Am I right in this? it seems strange that they've got backwards and traffic report station selection is no longer automatic.

I just press the TP button on mine, and it appears on the screen. How do you get this menu up?

Actually, saying that I can't remember if I actually get alerts or not - only driven the car a few times in the last 6 months!

On the standard radios there is a TP button. With the menu/screen driven versions you press 'Info', then scroll to the relevant action: 'TP On' in this case. Then you are given options as to what the TP station should be.
