which code reader?

Hi guys looking to purchase a code reader for my 1999 318.However just about all the readers on ebay are OBD2 and are only suiable for cars 2001 onwards.Has anyone got any idea what reader I would need to buy?

You need the top one. Keep an eye out on ebay. Peake are by far the best.

you need the 21 pin circular connector.

It's not particularly user friendly but I got hold of the BMW INPA software for an old laptop and AIUI it gives a LOT more info than a generic code reader.

I paid about £70 including the two different standard-fit cables. Got it from a bloke on bmwland.
