Just bought an E46 today

Just bought an E46 328i 1998 today, i want to service it tomorrow but am unsure what engine oil is needed, iv done some searching and there are differing opinions on what grade to use, any advice would be appreaciated.

Well done on getting an E46, hope you enjoy the car. Get yourself some 0w-30 or 0w-40, LL-01 BMW approved oil.

Take a look at www.opieoils.co.uk - they are well known for their knowledge and the quality oils they offer for virtually cars. You just select your model and make on their website. Out of interest I did this for you and these are the results (you can check yourself ofc):
