I have a 2003 6 speed manual BMW 330 CI M Sport (E46). I had it in May on a private sale. I had a new clutch and fly wheel fitted on waranty as the previous owner got it from BMW.(warranty now expired) 2 weeks after the new clutch I have noticed that when changing into 2nd gear, about 1 1/2 thousand revs at about 10 miles per hour the gear stick feels like it is rubbing on the gears. If you change gear normally there are no probs. Rest your hand on the stick and pull it back slightly and it is like dragging a stick along some railings!
Any ideas

Is it worse when it is cold? I find it quite a notchy gearbox sometimes, when cold, but can't quite relate to the exact sensation you describe.

I have found the gear box is quite notchy and even took it back to BMW to which they said it was fine.
For some reason this problem has gone away by its self but presume it will return. Could it have been the new clutch bedding itself in??

Probably not completely related, but this doesn't help matters if you're trying to shift quickly:

I had mine removed (3.0 Z4) and it makes the shifting experience much better.
