Window runner(s)? Have you taken the panel off to see?

Not wishing to sidetrack this topic, but I have a rattle in the rear near side passenger door of my e46 saloon, it's been there for quite some time, but oddly enough it disappears during the cold weather and the returns when the weather is warm. Could this be the same problem?

Alan

Not sure how to take panel off, plus I think you have to disconnect the side airbags ?

The noise seems to be low down and towards the rear of the door, the rattle will stop for a few days then start again!!!!

Well guess what, I just Googled 'removing Z4 door panel' and got lots of results, some with images too. Try it for yourself sometime smile

You do not need to touch the airbag to get the panel off.

Well thank you, I'm 64 and that is my excuse why I didn't think of that!

I believe it's quite common on the Z4. It's not actually something loose in the door, but the windows rattling. If it doesn't do it with the windows down, it's most likely this (I have it too).

The Z4 Forum is a good place to look too. Most problems are discussed here, and at worst linked to info on Bimmerforum and others, including pics.

UPDATE

It was the rear spring that was rattling having broken, since new one fitted all silent.
