M3 clutch onto 325i - will it go?
Discussion
I have a e36 325i and I recently mullered the clutch whilst driving it with a squealing release bearing. I have a clutch and flywheel from an M3 ( the models are only a year apart ) and was wondering if I might be able to use it on the 325i rather than spending £100+ on a patten replacement, what do you think?
If you've got to take it out anyway then I would try the M3 flywheel and clutch in there. Lightweight Fidanza flywheels use the M3 clutch in all E36 applications so it's not as if they are completey incompatible. I think the problem area will be if there are differences in the flywheel (M3 is dual mass so might be thicker or different diameter).
If I was you I would get a 325 clutch kit on sale or return, try the M3 in there and if it works just return the 325 kit. I'm fairly confident the M3 will it'll fit ok though (clutch pedal might be harder though as M3 slave is larger diameter than 325).

Thanks fellas, the clutch has now been repaired ( GSF, £104, collected
)
I do have a spare M3 combo but it is still in the car just yet. If it had been out and ready then yes, I would have tried it on for size, but as I could find no cohesive data to prove it would work, I went for standard as I may need the car for the 12.8.09.
