Has anyone ever done this... and how do you do it??

Just bought a drift slag E34... has an open dif and wanna do it cheaply... so decided welding it shut is the easiest option... or it would be if a knew how lol

Any1 got instructions lol

Yeah easy.

1) Remove diff
2) Open diff and remove oil
3) Weld the 4 small differential gears together with lots of weld or securely weld a small plate in.
4) Remove any grit/splatter, put new oil in and shove it back ito the car.

Eseentially by welding the differential gears solid you are removing the differential effect and locking the two rear wheels together.

Here's one that somebody has done neatly with a plate:

I didn't bother with a plate just used lots of weld and it has been fine.

People will be on here telling you to "get an LSD" but on a 'Drift Hack/Slag' it aint worth £300+.

It's great fun and unless you're doing a 3 point turn or a tight parking manouver it's not a problem..... just be careful in the wet on the road.

Pretty much the same as my E30 then (which has a welded diff)
