Hi chaps,

came into contact with an idiot in a 206 today, result is my drivers side mirror and mirror cap is gone. Where is the best (cheapest) place to get this? Quite pissed off but I an sure it's not a hard fix, they are the electric ones too btw. Any help very much appreciated!

I got a Pheasant, rather than a 206, but I got a new mirror glass and (unpainted) plastic cover from GSF (www.gsfcarparts.com), came to about £50 in all. Mirror glass on its own was best part of £30 IIRC.

Are you going to get it painted? Where do you see the cost for that?

Probably not, the car is my daily snotter. If I do, I will do it myself. £10 for primer and paint maybe?

I'd be careful to distinguish the electric mirrors from
the manual mirrors.

I'd also be careful to separate heated mirrors from non heated.

Also, there are electric fold mirrors to consider.

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ would be worth checking out.

I saw some that seem to be just over 100 quid ready to paint,
but other versions will be different prices.

Just to be clear, the mirror I damaged was an electric, heated, non-electric-fold type. I replaced the glass (tinted, heated) and the capping. The rest was undamaged.

Right, slight changein things I have gone back down the road it happened on and found the cap intact and the broken mirror glass, so my plan is to jam I all back in and stick a new glass over it! Will this be acceptable?

I lost both my mirror caps when I lived in Brum through no fault of mine whilst parking in side streets. Replaced them both through BMW for not a lot, I was surpised at the time how cheap they were.

Never did get round to painting them though.
