Disappointingly, some of my lovely "Le Mans Blue" paint has started to peel away on my front spoiler, exposing the white plastic underneath.

I had a guy from "Chips Away" look at it and he said it was due to poor quality original paint work and had not been caused by a stonechip or other percussion-related injury.

The car was registered in Sept 2005 and so the 3 year warranty is up. Any advice on what to do here guys? Can I get the fault rectified with BMW under "goodwill"? I shouldn't have a paint defect like this on a relatively young car......

Try the dealer, you may get lucky. If not use a decent independent bodyshop, should not cost too much.

My dealer has just agreed to re-paint the PU under warranty due to lacquer peeling on a 2yr old 5 Series - give them a call and see what they have to say.

If you have full main dealer history there could be a slim chance of a good will gesture, if you dont have the history then i think you might have to cough yourself...

Don't they have a longer paint warranty than 3 years? Or is that just corrosion?
