Evening,

I'm trying to weigh up which of these 2 would be the best ownership prospect (used circa 2007), my mind says 320d for economy / resale / running costs.

But I can get a 325d M Sport for pretty much the same price, my heart in this case says this car for added performance, maybe at the detriment to economy / resale / servicing etc???

What I'm asking is, is the 325d a far superior car?

I never said I would have another BMW after my last one but, I just can't help it!! thumbup

Cheers

I had a 320d coupe it was an all round great car , i now have a 525d which is also great

The 25d engine is much sweeter , very smooth and even sounds ok for a D

A six is always going to be smoother - sound nicer than a 4 pot

I'm on my third 320d. I think they're great all rounders, with the 2 litre diesel producing a reasonable amount of thump for reasonable fuel consumption. But at town speeds there's no doubting that you have a diesel under the bonnet. The 325d's six cylinder 3 litre engine will be much more refined. After 5 years I'm getting tired of hearing the 4-pot clatter so I think if it was me, I'd go for the 6 cylinder car.

Get the 325d. It'll feel muscular enough and would be a great daily driver (assuming it will be?). Makes a much better noise than the four pot makes.

Don't get a 320d, it's too much like a company car.

Would a 325d Coupe budget not land you a 330d saloon, though? They don't have the looks of the coupe but the performance would make up for that and two extra doors would be kind of handy.
