Hi guys, I have never posted in the BMW forum before but I need your advice.

My wife drives a 2005 318iES. It has continental tyres on all four wheels but the rear tyres need replacing.

My question/query is should I replace them with Continental tyres to match the front or is it OK to replace them with another make as I am replacing both tyres on the same (driving) axle?

Also, can any of you recommend a tyre brand/make?

P.S They are 225/50 Z R16

Thanks in advance for your replies thumbup

Some people say all must be the same - I generally like to keep all the same, but if I'm changing brand will change one then the other as/when they need doing. No point throwing away good tyres.

Thanks Matt

Both rear tyres need replacing at the moment, the fronts should be OK for a couple of thousand miles yet.

Forgot to add that I wouldn't advise doing it if you're talking about replacing RFT with non-RFT.

Think what he means is if your are replacing run flats with non run flats do all 4 together, at the same time.

Going back to my original question, all four tyres are NOT run flats, do I still need to keep the same make or brand or will it be ok to change the make so I have Continentals on the front and Goodyears on the back?

Are there any safety implications?

No, there are no safety implications.

I wouldn't quite go that far, there are possible safety implications - but nothing enough to worry about if they are both decent tyres.
