Last week I spent a day at BMW Welt and the BMW museum.

Arrived at 10.45 and straight to the info desk to ask if they were doing a production line tour - after a quick call they squeezed us in. We had a 2hr tour, saw the press shop, welding areas, paint shop and then the final production areas. Sadly they were all a bit out of sync, so we saw the quality assurance area then the windscreen installation. Even so, it was fascinating. I've seen the smart car assembly lots of times, been to Merc and Porsche but this was the first where i'd seen bodyshell assembly.

Then back into BMW Welt - if you dont know about it, this side is more about new cars, concepts and technology. Some lucky punters get to collect their new cars from there too.

and during the day they had an enduro biker riding around INSIDE! That would never happen in the UK.

We then went over the road to the museum, some very nice cars in there.

Great pics - would really like to head over there next year. The revamp seems to have had some superb reviews.

Anyone who goes here must go on the factory tour, you need to book by telephone in advance but it's well worth it, and it cost a couple of euros each.

I preferred it to the museum.
