Which BMW

I have been asked by my dad to help him find a new car. He currently has my old 1996 325i coupe and although it is in decent nick he fancies a change. He does love BMW's and has always had a thing for diesels (don't know why???), so he would like to stick with the Germans......he is looking to spend £4000 plus what ever the 325i is worth.

As he is retired he really only uses the car to drive to the shops most days, then a round trip of around 200 miles twice a week to his holiday home in Mid Wales. So any ideas? I have told him to save some cash and pick up a mint 328i Coupe but he seems to be leaning towards a diesel....or even an estate (so the dogs have more space!!)

Yep. E39 530i or 540i ideally if economy is not ther greater issue.

My topaz blue e39 530i sport touring auto might be for sale (although not currently advertised anywhere), ticks a couple of boxes and would be within your dad's price range. They are as good as rumour would have it. I might even consider a part exchange - let me know if interested - 07786864995.
