E39 Powerflex Bush Kit - 20minutes!!!
Discussion
I am going to cure my slight wobble and wobble under light braking next weekend by doing the bushes on the 530
I have just seen these advertised on ebay and read below. It cant be true that they fit in 20 mins can it...
Also do I need the 22.5mm, 24mm, 25mm or 27mm

This front suspension bush kit is for the BMW E39 5 Series 520 and 530 96-04 all models.
It includes:
- Front Lower Tie Bar to Chassis Bushes x 2
- Front Inner Track Control Arm Bushes x 2
- Front Anti-Roll Bar Mounting Bushes x 2 (please advise whether you require 22.5mm, 24mm, 25mm or 27mm)
These bushes stop the suspension moving around under load, causing poor handling and uneven tyre wear. They completely transform the handling of a standard or lowered vehicle, and are a must for all driving enthusiasts. These bushes will oulast any rubber bush on the market, and most other manufacturers polyurethane bushes.
The bushing is made from polyurethane as opposed to the OEM rubber bushing material which is much softer. The kit comes supplied with a specific stainless steel sleeve and a packet of copper grease/anti-seize.
They are a direct replacement for the soft OEM bushing's and fit with absolutely no modification. Installation takes about 20 minutes. The most difficult part is removing the factory bushing from the mount which basically needs destroying to get it out, but once accomplished, the new bushing fits in easily. After installation you should notice an immediate improvement in vehicle feel and performance.

That might take more than 20mins just for each one.Anti-roll bar bushes - check the diameter of your antiroll bar with a vernier. Or you can guess it by putting your car details in www.realoem.com - and go through the parts list. The diameter will depend on the type of suspension you have, and is best to measure it yourself.
Also, are you sure ebay are the cheapest? Try a local GSF (or maybe EuroCarParts). Proven Products from Tavisstock used to have very good prices - but they seemed to have dissappeared. Or call Powerflex and ask them to recommend a supplier in your area.
I'll check my local supplier and with Powerflex.
GSF did not do any kind of polly bush for my E34. I had had to go to a motor sport specialist (can't remember their name) I just did a google and up they popped.
Because mine is a track car I went for the harder Black compound. The kit for the whole car came to about £275ish. Makes a hell of a difference.
The ARB bushes on the E34 were a piece of cake to do. The tie arms were a little more tricky. Not sure on the E39 but the most difficult part was splitting the ball joints of the hub to get the arms off the car. If you damage the rubber you need to replace the arm. The rear front arm needed the X-over beam to be dropped too. Not difficult but added a little more time.
Good luck

Interesting to hear that rebushing an entire car came to just £275.
I was considering refreshing the front suspension on my car (There doesnt appear to be anything wrong with it but I doubt its as new) and was under the impression that the best way to do this was to replace all the arms at considerably more than £275.
Would rebushing have the same effect? It's the bushes that wear, right, so I presume it would?

I did replace the tie arms too but the bush kit for an E34 from Powerflex (the black track compound) was about £275. That was x4 tie arm bushes, front ARB, rear ARB and rear sub frame. For me just replacing the arms was not enough as my car is soley used on track now. In the few road miles I have done in the car, it is the bushes (which were fitted to the new tie arms after the arms were originally fitted!!!!)that made a much bigger improvement.I was considering refreshing the front suspension on my car (There doesnt appear to be anything wrong with it but I doubt its as new) and was under the impression that the best way to do this was to replace all the arms at considerably more than £275.

Sorry to revive a long dead thread, but I've just ordered a Polybush kit for my E39 SE.
Is anyone running an SE with these bushes? Now that I've ordered them I'm slightly concerned that they actually may ruin the car a little bit, it's very, very soft at the moment but I'm thinking it may lose it's comfort with them on?
Also, with the full Powerflex kit is it still necessary to buy:-
Front:
Left Control Arm with ball joint and bushing
Right Control Arm with ball joint and bushing
Left Thrust Arm with ball joint and bushing
Right Thrust Arm with ball joint and bushing
Rear:
Control Arm, Left Rear Upper Subframe to Wheel Carrier
Control Arm, Right Rear Upper Subframe to Wheel Carrier
Or does the kit actually replace the bushings within these components?

Right, I've just picked up my Z4 from having bushes fitted and have decided not to fit them to the E39 (well, I'll still fit the ARB bushes, but not the others)
Although ride comfort is still fine my Z4 is displaying unpleasant traits on the motorway, the wheel requires lots of little corrections as it steers itself, also it has developed a wobble which is not good!
Hopefully a 4 wheel geometry check and balance of the front wheels will help tomorrow!
