The door/window trim/seal has dropped on both side of my E46 330Ci. I've tried araldite but it came unstuck after a few weeks. It's just been serviced and I asked them to sort it but they said it never glues/reattaches well and should be replaced - at £227 per side!
Has anyone else had this and successfully reattached it? If so, how?

I had the same thing on my wifes' 330d saloon. I used 2 part B&Q Epoxy glue. Spent a long time making sure everything was aligned properly before glueing then kept the strip in place for 24 hours under tension (put a blanket inbetween door and strip then shut the door to provide the extra tension). This was a few months ago and all seems fine. I also put some vasaline on the door rubber so it wouldn't stick so much to the strip as this appeared to be the reason for the strip being 'pulled' away.

I was quoted £317 to supply and fit!

Hope that helps.

Same happened to me. A bit of time and patience and a tube of half decent contact adhesive and job done. This was eight weeks ago and it is still holding firm.

For an allround adhesive I use silicone sealant, it will stick to most things except waxy plastics.

Mentioned this in the pub last night. Somebody said double sided tesa tape will do the job. I've found their website but they list loads of different tapes - click.
I think I'll try some of the adhesives mentioned above, one on each side and if they fail I'll research the tesa tape further.
Thanks.

Update. Used sikaflex 291 - I think it's done the trick.
For anyone else using it, it's very sticky, dirty stuff. Keep it away from anything you don't want black and/or stuck. Mask surrounding areas and cover your leather, doors, mirrors - anything that may be close with old towels or whatever's handy.

OP, you talking about the rubber seal that goes all around the door frame or the metal exterior trim?

Rubber/felty-type stuff.

In that case you shouldn't need any adhesive at all. I did a DIY for E46Fanatics and all it cost me were the parts (£30 for each side if memory serves) - here it is:

That's a saloon - they seem to be different. The saloon has a door/window frame - the coupe doesn't. This is probably why it's done differently. For the same reason I'm not able to use towels as suggested above to hold it in place while it sets - had to use a selection of clamps.
