OK, so after 14 years of beautifull OZ 3 spoke alloys on my last 230, and soo easy to clean, I now have a lovely E46 330 M sport - With a lot more spokes eek

What is the best/easiest way to clean the bl**dy things?

Cheers

Pressure washer does a good job for when you just can't be bothered and want them looking a bit brighter.

Otherwise, prepared to spend a lot of time doing them. I dread to think how much time I've spent cleaning MV1s, MV2s and now the 19" M3 wheels in the last few years frown

My advice would be don't bother as the E46 brake pads seem to make the most dust compared to any other car. You'll be cleaning your wheels daily or every other to keep them clean.

This is what I used to do on my ex girlfriends 19" current model M-Tech alloys.

They will need a proper good clean when you first get them. After that, simple weekly maintenance will allow you to keep them looking good with the minimum amount of hassle and work.

Initial Clean:

Avoid wonder wheels as it is acidic. Use http://www.performancemotorcare.com/acatalog/P21S_... It stinks but it's a great product that will not damage your wheels in any way. Spray it on and use quality wheel brushes get rid of the crud. It's worth taking the wheels off for this first initial clean so you can do both sides properly.

Jet the P21 off and inspect, repeat until the wheels are clean.

Then clay the wheels to remove any surface contaminants/tar etc.

Jet them off again

Apply a couple of coats of Poorboys wheel sealent.

Dress the tyres and put your wheels back on.

While the wheels are off it's a good opportunity to give your arches a good clean.

Weekly Maintenance:

When you are washing the car spray the wheels with Meguiars super degreaser diluted as per the instructions. Leave it to do its work and simply jet off. This product will remove the vast amount of brake dust and road grime and then just a quick once over with the sponge will leave them as good as new. Use a proper car shampoo so as not to strip the sealent.

Monthly Maintenance:

As weekly but a coat of two of Poorboys.

Every six months repeat the initial clean.

MV1s?

Wheel acid and a pressure washer. Seriously. Makes a 2 hour job into a 5 minute job and you don't even have to get your hands dirty.
