If you go looking at a 3 series for sale that is advertised as M Tech what makes it officially an M Tech? Should it be on the log book or does it need to have all the M Tech kit and if so what is 'all'.

There was never an M-tech as far as i know, there were "motorsport" e30 325s, and "sport" e36s, and "m-sport" e46s.

M-tech is usually made up by wideboy car salesmen looking for attention.
You'll see loads of cars listed as AC Schnitzer, just because they have the wheels, gearknob and a badge from ebay.

M-tech was the BMW name for their sportier suspension and accessories line. Most of the early non airbag e36s had an M-tech steering wheel, and the e36 coupe suspension is known as "m-tech low slung sports suspension" but none of these actually make themselves known on the logbook.
