I have the professional satnav in my mine and it has a tendency to tell me to take a turning when I know it's the wrong way.

Once I was going up the A1 and the satnav was set to take me to Glasgow and I am approaching the A66 turnoff...... east and it tells be to take the turning. I turn off and I'm heading down the hill to a roundabout when it tells me to go back the way I have just come back on the A1.

I reach the Turn for A66 west a mile or so further on and it tells me to take it, the correct turn.

A few times I have been returning home along a route I know and it tells me to turn when I know it should be straight on. I was in the south lake District last month leaving Cartmel to go home and it tells me to go right at the T junction when the road sign says left.

I have found relying on the BMW system frustrating and you still need a good idea of the correct route to take.

I carry a Garmin Zumo which I tend to believe it a bit more than the built in effort. It's just a shame that when you spend so much on a built on system you get one that does not work accurately and does not even have full 7 character postcode search either mad

To be fair though we don't know it was a BMW factory fitted system (as implied by the thread title)... it only says the guy was driving a BMW...

It happened a while ago but the court case was yesterday. I read in the paper it was a TT he was using not the onboard satnav, he was moaning about the 4 points and £500 fine for UCAA

Does anyone else remember a story many years ago about a 7 series driver who ended up driving into the river Thames after following instructions of his factory fitted sat nav!?
