X5 30d m sport should be with us in 6 weeks, got a sustantial discount and a good price for my e53 x5. Another bonus is that I get the new IDrive with updated controller and hard drive.

Please could you mail me aswell because I'm trying to decide between one of these and a 535d M Sport and on balance I'd prefer the X5 but price is a factor.

Many thanks

Totally agree but I like them both and cost will be a factor. So if i can get a brand new X5 for not much more than second hand 535d money I might decide to do that.....

You should be able to buy a new 535d for less than the price of a new x5?

I had a 535d, went to an x5 3.0d, then went back to a 535d. Fuel consumption was a killer for me - it barely broke 28mpg on average, compared to 37mpg in the 535d, so overall i was putting 50% more fuel into it.

£500 a month a diesel wears thin after a while...

hi to all!

longtime lurker making a comeback

i too have just ordered an x5 3.0sd this week (SE with dynamic pack 20" Y spoke alloys media pack 7seat etc) - there are indeed some good discounts available with a separate BMW contribution, varying dealer contributions, and scrappage allowance + usual p/x etc. finance was reasonable too. however all the bmw/dealer contributions are only valid for cars registered before nov 30th - and remember vat increases back to 17.5% dec 1st.

to the OP baxter - will be interesting to know what sort of deal u got? thumbup

There is as datson says a 3k BMW contribution ontop of any discount you can negotiate with the dealer. A big thing for me was getting the updated Idrive system and this is only available with cars being built from 1.10.09 so if you are doing a deal make sure you have the updated Idrive, it has a hard drive an Audi MMI type controller and a usb socket for transferring your music onto the hard drive. The dealer will not offer the information about the updated Idrive as they will want to use up their stock of MY09 cars that are still speccable on the production line. Also bear in mind that a face lift is due next year with some updated engines so a good deal is essential as they obviously going to take a hit next year.
