A car I’ve recently viewed was registered new in the Isle of Man and then transferred over to a BMW dealership in North Wales. The question is, is this car now considered an import? I’ve noticed on the BMW GB web site the IOM dealership is listed as a UK dealer.
The log book states it was registered in 2007 though the car was clearly manufactured in 2005 and carries a ‘05’ plate.
What’s your view on this? Will this have any effect on the resale value of the car?

Shouldn't do, assuming it's a UK spec car.

BMW IOM is a bonafide UK dealer and source their Car and Parts via BMW UK, The IOM use their own reg system hence the re-reg to come back to the mainland.

Of course that doesn't stop the car being an import.

A quick call with the with the last 7 of the chassis to any UK dealer's parts dept would be able confirm this for you as personal imports don't show up on the system in the same way. It usually works with the reg but not guranteed if its had a plate change outside the BMW dealer network.

Value wise an 05 car is out of all but the anti-rust warranty so it shouldn't make any difference providing its uk spec.
