Anyone used the mesh dog guard and is it any good? What about the solid metal one - looks more sturdy but means you can't use load cover (I think)?

Getting a dog at the weekend so looking at both BMW standard ones - is a labrador so will be large-ish.

Anyone with one laying around I am willing to make an offer for.......

What year is the X5? I can get a part number and search any dealers showing stock and also check if you can leave the load liner in situ. I must point out that you would probably not use the load liner much with the dog in the back unless you where trying to hide it from customs lol!!! From memory the rigid dog guards are wider so the dog cannot get around it, there is a chance with the net version attached to liner, of the dog getting around the sides. Also under heavy braking the dog could get thrown into it and then bounced back into the rear screen!!yikes

It's a 54 plate (2004). Just found some pics of the metal one at http://www.x5drivers.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t... and it looks pretty solid to me.

I've got a 2005 X5 and the dog guard will fit in either with or without the load cover. (And it is metal ).
If you put the load cover back in you don't need to fit the lower brackets ans the guard sits between the back of the seats and the cover roller thingy.
Plenty of room for a Labrador.
