I would ideally like my next car to have cruise control, and keep coming back to 328i/M3's as a potential future purchase. Some of the 328i's have cruise installed, but not many by the look of it. Does that mean it is possible to fit the same system to one that doesn't yet have it, assuming you could get the parts required?

Cheers.

Good question! I don't know the answer, but interested to hear if it could fit a 328i.

Not quite: cruise was available as an option, & as a dealer retrofit, however, I can't recall ever seeing one with it fitted. Cruise on smaller cars only really took off in the early part of this century.

I have it!! dealer fitted to my 92 325i. I think it could be retro fitted if you have all the parts.

There was a guy in Malaysia selling the BMW retrofit kits on ebay a while ago. I don't think it's too hard to do, a stepper motor gets added and another throttle cable, and then just extra wiring it the spedo sender, brake switch and maybe a few others.

I retrofitted cruise control to my 94 325, it was couple of hours work, but the hardest part is finding a kit.
The kit just plugs into the wiring distribution box under the steering column, the wires have push on connetcors that go onto empty slots in the connector blocks so it is just plug and play stuff.

Sounds almost worth doing.

(Useful first post, btw!)

My 3.0l M3 has it, the engine will be coming out in a few weeks to go in my track car so the cruise control will be surplus to requirements if you want to make me an offer for it. What bits would you need to retro-fit it in another car?
