So...who's had to change one of these feckers??

I've currently got an E36 touring stuck on the drucking fiveway with the mangled remains of the old, and now definitely broken, sensor stuck in the hub. It would appear the bond between the plastic sensor and the metal hub is stronger than the very fibres of the universe...I cannot shift the thing! WD40, chisel and hammer, drill, extractor tool...nothing will shift it with the disc in place.

To compound matters I now have a mangled allen bolt holding the brake disc in which no drill will touch (apart from to make a horrible noise). So it appears I can't even get the disc off, to get the shield and rotating part of the wheel speed sensor out of the way to drift it out properly.

Anyone got any bright ideas? (Apart from take it to a garage???) I'm now scouring the web for a Bristol based tool shop that actually does drill bits meaty enough to take out the disc bolt!! I'm loath to attack it with a blow torch whilst the rotating part of the wheel speed sensor is there...just in case!

HRG.

Your drill speed or feed is wrong. Get a new bit and run it at about 1000 RPM (assuming it's M6) with some proper cutting compound and the head will soon shift.

Only been drilling it at 1000rpm, but hadn't thought about cutting paste. Good point, cheers.

Can you get a chisel or punch on the allen bolt?
