I have been starting to like the looks of the old E28 more and more... very handsome car... anyone got one? what are they like...? The M5 is just filth, but even the humblest cars are looking cool to me...

Agreed. I'm liking this at this moment http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1187979.htm

Rust and not being quick enough with the opposite lock are the main issues.

Up until two years ago, I was driving an 87' 525 E. The car was a very well cared for example. A friend gave it to me, with 12 mths MOT and freshly serviced. In 3 years I had the cambelt and waterpump changed, front pads and front tyres - that was it. Always did 28 mpg and oversteered like a beatch in the wet ! Electrics killed it. That car made me smile...
Check out this little beauty:

I think it's the 6th car down. £1900 for a serviced and 3 month warrantied car.

The biggest problems are rust, rust and more rust. If the bodywork is OK.....front wings, rear arches, undersides of doors and boot lid then mechanically they are actually very reliable and fun to drive cars. Find a good one and enjoy yourself.
