Hi all, im relatively new to the BMW world, had an E39 525i M sport a while back which I loved but im picking a 330d coupe up (E90 I think! 2006 model) this week.

Im curious as to who people would recommend for a re-map on the car, im not after the one that simply gives the most power but the one that is the best developed and most driveable with it. The cars an auto if that makes any difference.

Was surprised when did a search in google very little came up!

Thanks.

I used Simon at www.e-maps.co.uk. Seems to be very popular within the BMW diesel circles.

Had my 330d re-mapped by will at p torque last month. Only £300 with rolling road and it's a fantastic job. Everything about the remap has improved the engine, power torqu, delivery, pick up and economy.

Definately give them shout, based over by wolverhampton but worth the travel.

Had my 123D remapped at P-Torque on the weekend and totally agree with everything said above smile

www.p-torque.co.uk

I've now got similar power/torque to the latest 330D. Really does improve the performance and delivery. Not sure about the economy yet though as I have been enjoying the performance too much!

AS, i was just looking at my rolling road results and thought i'd share them with you as a little encouragement!

Before 234bhp and 389lbft.

After 274bhp and 455lbft, and still averaging 44.1mpg which has improved

(gareth your right because the first few days mpg drops because you can't stop smiling!!!)

+1

Have a scout round the BMW forums, Simon has a very good reputation. I say that, not because I have any vested interest but because I'm doing the same research that you appear to be doing smile have a look here for other satisfied customers www.bmwland.co.uk

Remap place based in Luton area who have been known to cause damage to trailing arms when testing. To be avoided!

If it's any help I'm going for emaps within the next few weeks on my 118d, done a lot of looking around and think that he'll be the best for me, specially as I'm miles away from most.

On reputation a lone I hopefully wond go wrong. Will report back once complete.

Simon's (Emaps) reputation is well deserved.
A top Guy who knows his stuff, and more importantly gives proven results.
I'd strongly recommend him over others, as his price and the end result is normally unbeatable.

I read elsewhere that e92 330d coupe were making 290hp on remap, with a silly torque figure... Personally i'd go with dms, but they're expensive.

Geezer has e92M remapped by them,to be having a little drive a while later to find car loses its grip/momentum etc and all the bells and whistles go mentle, gets it into BM stealership, after further inspection finds trailing arm had failed !! ie bendy and given way ! obviously a little concerned along with BM techs only to fing the cause of failure was excess pressure applied to unit whilst being STRAPPED !! to rolling road ...........

Not good .

I was tempted with DMS but about double the price of emaps seemed insane...the quoted figures did seem higher though for torque & bhp.

There is little in it (BHP/Torque) between a DMS map and one by Simon, apart from the price.
I've seen dyno graphs from cars post map dynoed at SRR and the difference was neglible.
From memory the Emaps car was marginally better on BHP, but marginally lower on torque, however the Emaps car was a lot newer with far fewer miles on the clock than the car running the DMS map.

Your talking about a friend of mine's car and my car.

This was back in April 08.

The emaps made 0.5HP more but 12ibs torque less.

One more + for Emaps, had my old 330d done at the beginning of the year and was very impressed. He has by far the best reputation in BMW circles, really knows his stuff and will travel to you as he's a mobile service. Why pay twice the price?

Also, he will not remap the 335i as he has seen too many problems with them cooking turbos and doesn't want any future problems until these issues have been sorted out. His reputation is everything and as such he will turn down work if he does not feel it's right.
