I'm looking at buying a either a TT coupe 225 BHP or a E46 Cabriolet, either 325 or 330. Any opinions on which is better?

I know the back seats in the TT are pretty useless but I once got a lift home in one and we had someone squished in the back across the 2 seats, so they can be used in an emergency. I don't like the TT convertible so it would have to be the Coupe.

Now the E46, I think they are really good looking and the cabriolet is just lick.
So what are the back seats like in the BMW?
What are running costs going to be?
Is there a big difference between the 325 and 330?
My main concern with the BMW is that it will be too slow? The 0-60 is something like 6.9 seconds, which isn't great. I'm not looking for an out and out drivers car, but I need something that will let me overtake easily and will be fun enough for a spin round country roads.
I used to drive an X5 4.8 occasionally and that was easily quick enough, what's the E46 going to be like compared to that?

So what does everyone think.

I know they are quite different cars but they are what the wife and I have agreed on, so any ideas which to go for?

Thank you in advance.

My other half was looking at either a TT or E46 so we went for a drive in both. Im not a fattie and I'm quite short (5ft8) but I found the TT absolutely tiny - no way I could actually drive one.

Go for the E46, better engine and the correct wheel drive...

The rear seats in the convertible are perfectly usable for two adults.

I never found the 330 slow, and it's great fun to drive. Test drive both cars, see how you get on. Make sure you get a post 2003 3-series to get the 6-speed gearbox, LED lights and facelifted front end.

Most say go for the 330 instead of the 325 because the running costs are quite similar, and a big hike in power.

On the other hand, you can always chip the TT..

Had a remapped 225 and currently got a 330ci, for me the 330 is a far better car to drive, yes it's not as fast as the 225 was but around it's just a better car IMO.

For me it was just a choice of a straight six over the turbo, love the way the power is delivered on the 330, so refined compared to the turbo and over long journeys found it far more comfortable, also if you are tall then getting in and out of the TT is a pita.

The TT is a better looking car for me and on the back roads it's much more fun and it feels more of a sports car when you are inside it but get it remapped, transforms the car for very little money.

End of the day, drive them both, only you can decide smile
