Hi All,

I am having great problems with BMW about my car. I own a Z4 2.5i Sport. Sometimes (not all the time) the car will not go into First or Second gear. After around Seven or Eight attempts, the car will go into gear.
I've even had to turn the car off, then back on to put the car into gear. As this has happened on quite a few occaions, I wanted BMW to sort this out. BMW took my car and went for various drives.

I confirmed that this problem does not happen all the time. A few spins later they said there is no problem and will not be fixing it!!
So... I need your help! I confirmed to the manager that members on here and Z4 forum have had the same problem. Can you lovely ladies and gentleman write up what happened to you and how the problem was fixed?

If you can help, I would be most grateful!

Thanks Simon

This is a manual presumably? Does it go into gear if you put it into reverse or 5th/6th and then try first or second?

To be honest, the last thing I want to do is scary someone and put the car into reverse instead of first, so I can't say I have tried.

What I mean is, sometimes the gearbox will baulk and not select a gear, but engaging another gear first will clear it. For example, the T5 box used in the TVR Chimaera will graunch when engaging reverse every single time, unless you put it into 5th first in which case it slots in perfectly.

Arguably, this shouldn't be the case with a modern BM though.
