Having had my 535d msport a couple of weeks and having not driven it hard at all I am a bit dissapointed with the mpg seem to be getting 30.7 on a long 200 mile trip 170 motorway cruise on circa 80 leptons and then 30 miles cross country / little bit of traffic.

Is this normal ?

it is a 2006 model

Not sure if this will help because I've just bought a 2008 535D Msport and had it DMS'd and over the last month doing a 100 mile a day commute with a mix of dual carriageway (c.0.8 leptons) and cross country (manual sport mode caning the t*ts off it) I'm getting 35.7! In fact the harder I drive it the better the consumption seems to get. One thing I have noticed is that when I bought mine it showed on start up that there was 4000 miles to the oil change and after c.2000 miles it still says it's 4000 miles to the oil change service. The guy who had it before me was a bit driving miss daisy so never gave the poor thing a good clear out, I'd like to think the combo of steady motorway cruising followed by a bit of a blast out on the cross country sections is helping to keep everything healthy...until the turbo goes pop! wink

When I take it into the nearby city consumption drops to 35.3!

SAGPACKs 2008 535d will have the updated engine compared to a 2006 (pre-LCI) model like yours.

I have a 56 plate (pre-LCI also) and overall get 32-33MPG which includes a mix of motorways and A/B roads. A long motorway journey improves it a little.

Your MPG is a little lower than mine but not too much.

Generally I get around 450-500 miles from a tank depending on the journeys I make.

I did 24k miles in 10 months in mine, also a pre facelift and averaged 27mpg, it is not an economical car.

In the facelift doing the same journeys I get around 35mpg, a big, big difference.

I get about 27mpg out of my 07 LCI which equates to 400-450 out of a tank.

Is the only difference between the pre 07 and post 07 the map ?

I only ask as after speaking to dms they said that after the remap they both end up with the same torque and bhp figure

Thanks

New lighter alu engine and a near gearbox, which is where the real fuel savings come from.
